After I came here, California, when I make a video call with my parents, especially after the video chat, I always feel empty when I put my phone down. I wondered why I would feel empty and I questioned myself…
“Why do I feel empty every time the call ends?”
How people have been communicating?
Technology advances have enabled us to communicate with each other even as the distance between people increases.
And we talk to people far away, but ironically, we are not yet completely satisfied with long distance communication.
Even though we look at each other’s face, we may not be satisfied because we are still used to short distance communication where we share emotions in the same space.

Photographer Inspiration
Okka Supardan is an Indonesian photographer that experiments majorly with water splash and levitation. He shoots sometimes in muddy areas and in the bush, sometimes he takes his shoot to the river. Most of his subjects are children and animals sometimes. When I see his photographs, I can see the liveness of people and it’s just so funny how they look in the photo. And it’s good to see them harmonize with nature.

and little details between them looks like arms
but also like interlocked fingers.
More organic shape. This swirling part looks like embracing each other and each other fills each other's empty spaces, like yin and yang and the bottom part provides a sense of stability while firmly supporting the upper part

Final Shape
Line around the product is like a handprint left when you hold and release your hands, or it seems to be intertwined when you hold someone’s hands.
It's not just a thing that sits in the corner of your room. it can be your friend and family, and it's something you can feel connected to.
I hope this design can remind people of the true value of communication and how important it is and instead of feeling empty, people can feel warmth, comfort, and bond at the same time by looking at this product and don’t need to feel lonely anymore.
